Have you ever wondered by what means cultural organizations identify, cultivate, and steward donors? Or have you considered exactly how cultural organizations determine an “ask” amount for a potential donor? If so, look no further. This module will introduce participants to the practice of prospect research in cultural organizations. In addition to describing prospect research and its theoretical underpinnings, this module will introduce participants to practical strategies for assisting cultural managers in thinking about how to efficiently select donors who will most likely give meaningful gifts in support of culture. This session will also examine the implications for culture when donors with particular demographic profiles are excluded from cultural organizations’ fundraising plans.
